Sarah McBride, a transgender woman, is the first transgender person to address a major party convention. She spoke at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday, July 28th. McBride was the national press secretary for the Human Rights Campaign. It should also be noted that there was also a record number of LGBT delegates at the convention, including 27 transgender people.
