05-14-2013 The Justice’s National Council of Brazil legalized same-sex marriage for the entire country in a 14-1 vote. The ruling was published on May 15th and took effect on May 16, 2013.
05-14-2014 Arkansas Judge Chris Piazza ruled that the 2004 voter-approved amendment to the state constitution violates the rights of same-sex couples. The judge stated that the state had “no rational reason” for preventing gay couples from marrying. He did not put his ruling on hold and opened the door for same-sex couples in Arkansas to get their marriage licenses.
