11-20-2015 Carol – The USA release date of the British-American romantic drama film based on the novel The Price of Salt (1952) by Patricia Highsmith. Directed by Todd Haynes; starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara. The film received six Academy Award nominations, five Golden Globe Award nominations, and nine BAFTA Award nominations. The British Film Institute named Carol the best LGBT film of all time.

11-20-2013 Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signs legislation allowing same-sex weddings to begin in the summer of 2014. Illinois becomes the 16th state to legalize gay marriage.

11-20-2014 The consumer giant corporation Procter & Gamble publicly announced their support of same-sex marriage. Chief Legal Officer Deborah P. Majors stated: “We have always supported our employees and fostered a culture of inclusion and respect— this includes the right to marry whomever they choose and to have that union legally recognized.
